New Hope Nanny Agency

Thank you for your interest in my story, I would like to take this opportunity to explain why I started my own Nanny agency. This is an area of my life in which I have a lot of passion. Childcare is such an area of concern and worries. Our children are precious gifts that fulfill our lives, and it is hard to entrust their care to just anyone, when we have to leave the home. We want to ensure that they are well cared for in a safe and nurturing environment, by someone who sees our children in the same light we do, with love and affection.

Like many families with two working parents, my husband and I wanted excellent care for our children, when I had to return to work. This was going to be difficult as we both work shift work. When it was suggested that we hire a live-in Nanny, we realized this would be best for our children. However, we had no idea the difference she would make in our lives.

From the moment Lita arrived, we treated her as a member of our family. She was very shy and quiet, but a great worker and helper. It was not until we got to know her much better, that she was able to tell us of all the hardships that she has endured, in her life as a live-in Nanny, in other countries. She had also been very worried about what would happen, in her new life in Canada.

Her story, and the countless stories of others that she has shared, caused me to be very sad. No one deserves to be treated this way! Especially when all the hardships these women endure, are so they can make a better life for themselves, and their families.

Through my own personal experience, and that of friends, family and co-workers, I realized that although there are numerous Nanny agencies operating in the GTA, the truly great agencies are limited. There is a distinct lack of quality customer service and follow up. And many of the agencies treat the women as a source of income, not as the wonderful women that they are. There are many empty promises made to some of these women, before they arrive here in Canada.

Please realize that I am not saying that all the agencies are bad! I know that there are good agencies, but through my research, I have realized that anyone can open an agency, there is no government regulation on Nanny agencies.

I decided to open my own agency, and have an ardent desire to provide excellent service to the Canadian families who will find their Nanny through my agency. As well, my main objective is to allow women, who are just like us, mothers, wives, sisters and aunts, to have their dreams to come to Canada fulfilled. To make leaving their families and friends behind in their home country, worth their sacrifices. And as they go through the processing, that they will be treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve. And once they are here, they will have support and assurance that should any problems arise, I will be there to provide resources, information and advice.

I was lucky enough to have a close friend “strongly encourage” me to pursue my desire to open my own agency. I was on maternity leave with my youngest daughter, and as I have my own great Nanny, and a very supportive husband, and close group of friends, I had the time to research, develop contacts, and start my agency. In fact, my former Nanny, Lita, has also been a huge part of this whole process, as it is also her vision to provide other women with the opportunities that she was not offered through her quest to come to Canada, and after she was here, by the agency who we hired her through. She is also able to communicate with the Nannies in their own language, and be an example of one who has already gone through the whole process, and been in Canada for a few years. She is full of wisdom and compassion for these women.

In the past few months that I have been operating, I have had the fantastic privilege of making phone calls to some of my Nannies, and let them know that they have been offered jobs with nice families, here in Canada. I can’t begin to describe how amazing it is to hear these women cry, and say thank you, over and over. There are few jobs that are able to provide one with such positive feedback.

I called my agency A New Hope Nanny Agency, as it is just that, a new hope for the families, and a new hope for the women who are overseas.

My future goals and dreams are to continue to enrich Canadian families with the wealth of experience and love that my Nannies are able to provide to your children and your home. I would love to see my business grow so that I can bring many other Nannies over, so they will in turn have the opportunity to provide for their families, as well as get the chance to one day become permanent residents of this amazing country, and bring their children and families over, so they can enjoy the many things about Canada, that we take for granted.

As A New Hope Nanny Agency grows, I would also like to be able to hire my close friend, who is a stay at home mother of four children, to assist me with the free in home consultations, that I offer as part of my service. She shares the same vision and goals as I, and it would be an opportunity for her to continue to stay at home, while supplementing the income of her family. As the business becomes more successful, I will always only hire other employees who have the same viewpoints and empathy for the Nannies, and for those who yearn for quality, affordable, childcare and elder care.
