In November of 2005 my wife, Casey, and I had our first child.  A nine pound five ounce baby boy named, Braxton.  We wanted to show him off to everyone and take him everywhere!  We were so proud and excited!  He was on Santa’s knee when he was just 3 days old!  He got his picture taken and startled jolly old St Nick.  I don’t think that Santa had held a little guy quite that young, at least not for a while!  We waited around for our Santa picture package, which included pictures of all sizes, keychain picture holders, a coffee mug, a t-shirt and anything else that they would print our little guy’s picture on!  We were so thrilled and getting even more excited now that Christmas was in the air (Casey’s absolute favourite time of year!).

On our way home, Casey and I got talking and realized a lot of our relatives lived out of town and wouldn’t get to meet Braxton until Christmas.  It would be even longer for anyone not able to make it back for the holidays.  We started naming our family and friends from out of town, and the list grew quickly!  A check of the “travel fund” revealed that we wouldn’t be making trips to B.C., Colorado, California, Australia and Europe any time soon.  So it was back to the drawing board.  How could we make it so all of our friends and family wouldn’t miss Braxton growing up?  The Internet!  After all, there is nothing better for sharing information with people all over the world than the internet.  So we figured Brax needed his own website.  Shortly after Braxton was tucked into bed that night, I scanned his Santa picture and sent off an email to everyone we know.  After that, I was hard at work on a website for Braxton.

What a labour of love!  I’ve spent countless nights up late updating Braxton’s website so nobody would miss a moment of him growing up.  I’ve kept up the site, over the last 15 months and received quite a lot of compliments from those friends and family members that we were trying to “keep in the loop”.  The best part about his site is that it wasn’t just the out-of-towners that loved to check up on Brax, all the local people loved it too!  What a feeling it is to have someone come up and start a conversation with you about your child.  It’s hard to describe the pride that you feel when someone tells you how cute and adorable your child is after they saw one of the many pictures or videos on the site.  I’ve had people tell me that by checking out the site, Braxton made their day.  What a feeling!

On January 4th our best friends had their first child.  A baby girl named Brooklyn.  Casey and I sat at the hospital with the grandparents, waiting for the stork to show up with little baby Brooklyn.  She finally arrived and we were so happy and excited for them!  We took some pictures and shared a little of the wisdom we’d picked up over the last year.  By the time we got home I already had a perfect website designed in my head for Brooklyn.  After yet another long night in front of the computer, they had a website to show off their new pride and joy.  And I had an idea!

I woke up Casey in the middle of the night, which in the middle of the week is never a good idea, and asked her what she thought about the idea of a company that designed custom websites for kids?  I got the standard middle of the night response “ya, honey…..great idea……sounds good…….can we talk about it in the morning?”  Fair enough, it was 2am after all.  I was up most of that night brainstorming trying to find a way to share the pride that I felt every time someone mentioned they saw Braxton’s website.  And like that the idea for GigaBaby.net was created.

At www.GigaBaby.net we create inexpensive, custom designed websites for kids of all ages.  Our goal is to help other proud new parents show off their kids and feel the same way we do.  All of our sites are custom built with the customers input.  There are no generic templates used, only a unique site designed by you, with us doing all the work!  You choose everything from colours to content.  If you want it we can do it!  You even get to choose your own unique domain name for free!
