Snuggle Bugz – Open for business!

In February of 2006, my husband Ben and I found out that we were about to have an addition to our family.  We had been trying to have children for a long time with no success.  Little did we know, this news was about to spark the launch of Snuggle Bugz!

We excitedly shopped for our baby-to-be, and soon found ourselves traveling all over Toronto to find the products and services we wanted. We were especially delighted with the crib we chose, a beautiful piece of furniture that transforms into a full-size bed. I kept thinking, “Wouldn’t it be great if I could get all of my favourite products in one location!”

When Samuel was born, Ben and I realized how little we knew about babies! There was so much about having a baby that we had taken for granted. Breastfeeding, for example…I had assumed it just happened naturally, but I found it frustrating and difficult.

Our experiences grew into the idea of a business where we could offer a broad range of products for babies under one roof, but also provide services and support to help new parents through the baby stages.  Our plan for Snuggle Bugz includes courses on special baby topics in partnership with experts from the local community.  We have included a beautiful training room in our store, and look forward to launching courses in the Spring of 2007!

The birth of Snuggle Bugz

Ben has an entrepreneurial background, and I teach school. We had always dreamed of partnering in a business that we could be equally passionate about. Our love for children and our experiences as new parents brought the pieces together.  It has been an incredible year planning the opening of “Snuggle Bugz.”  As we moved from talking about the idea to committing time and money, finding the perfect location and researching product, to lying awake nights deciding on a name, we watched the dream become reality.  It has been an amazing experience, with lots of support from family and friends. “Snuggle Bugz” is now open and catering to all the needs of a child’s first year. 

 “Furnishing baby’s first years” became the tagline for Snuggle Bugz. It represents our desire to become known as a retailer of high quality baby furniture and accessories, the preferred destination for babies’ parents, grandparents, and friends. Our goal for Snuggle Bugz is to make it easier for families as they transition to the next stage of life.

A new baby is one of life’s greatest joys. We are honoured to play a role in this exciting time. Our goal is to assist new parents along the journey, helping to remove frustrations and make it as fun and exciting as possible.

Today…

Snuggle Bugz, while still in its infancy, provides many challenges.  I’m thoroughly enjoying the business, customers, and new relationships that I’m developing, but I find the hardest part is balancing being a wife, new mom, school teacher, and new business owner.

As Snuggle Bugz grows, my hope is that it will continue to have that “family business” atmosphere, with great customer service and an educated staff that leave you with that warm and happy feeling.
