Studio West Photography & Design
For as long as I can remember I was encouraged to embrace the Arts. I was raised in a home surrounded by creative energy, Arts, Music & Entertainment. Our home included a Studio ….a space designed for creative expression. So, It was never really a question about whether I would choose an artistic career, it was more, what would I choose??
Baby Steps…..
I fell into the embrace of photography. After formal training, and several years of freelance opportunities shooting Sports, Models, Musicians, Commercial work and Weddings…..I realized, I had fallen hopelessly in love with photographing the natural elegance of people. The soulful relationships and chosen Milestones we all share…Brides, Babies & Bellies….As this became my focus, Tara West Photography was born…..
…Then July 8th 2004, Tyson Nathan Anthony Wood was born. Multi-tasking took on a hole new meaning and sleeping became a luxury when my son Tyson entered my little independent, more than ever growing, business world. A world where booking a shoot meant also making sure I had Tyson covered, nap time meant car rides to the lab to process orders, and emails were often returned with a lap full of baby.
Neither one was a 9-5, Monday to Friday type of job, and I am positive it is a Good thing that I am nocturnal by nature. I accepted long ago that I had hours that were opposite from the rest of the world (my neighbors will vouch for the lights on at odd hours in my house!) So adjustment of this sort was minimal.
Footprints….
After many Baby steps and hurdles along the way…. 11 years later… it has evolved into a unique and personalized business that has grown deeper not larger, gifted by referrals, into Studio West Photography & Design. Studio West specializes in Babies & Bellies Portraits, Weddings, Artistic Portraits and presentation & display of your portraits.
And as Tyson turns into a busy, 2 ½ year old you will often hear him in the background of my calls or racing to the door to greet you too…..True to my roots, I look forward to raising him in a creative environment and I hope I can pass onto him the same appreciation I have for the arts.
With Tara’s images Most recently showcased in Wal-marts Baby registry magazine, the Babies & Bellies side to her business is in full blossom. ‘I love photographing newborn babies….The potential that each one of these little ones has, is inspiring to me. ’
While her business continues to grow, and grow…. Tara has welcomed other endeavors such as partnering up with Birth Connections to host the next semi-annual Bellies & Babies Day. This event will be held in The Gambrel Barn at Country Heritage Park in Milton, on March 4th, 2007. A show created to share information, products & services to expecting, new and young families within the Halton Hills area. For more information you can visit www.belliesandbabiesday.com.
I am still learning to relaxed & find my place in Motherhood while balancing my business in this new found life. And although, having my Studio in my home sometimes feels like I never stop working…I truly do love my work. I realize how fortunate I am to have an occupation that motivates me, allows me time to raise my son, and how privileged I am to share in all the wonderful stepping stones in many lives...
